England 2008

Right! Thought it be fun to do a pictureblog from our trip to England last month and why not do it in the english language?

Aaahh, the great and mighty 6 day trip to England.. aayyee. Where to start?

Let's start at the beginning shall we? We woke up in the middle of night on the 19th of August (o4:00 am) and managed to get ourselves to the airport on time. There we met up with our fellow travellers; ma+pa, me brothers and aunt Binna and causin Jón Þór. All was well until about 6 hours after we landed on London Stansted airport. Then me and my family (Óli, Máni and Svanur) were in our rental car from Budget when our GPS thingie started aping at us sending us round and round in circles in the middle of an english forest leeding us, through extremely narrow countryroads surrounded by woodland, to the middle of nowhere and we were totally lost.

Soon it got ridiculously pitch dark. Quite scary actually. In the town of Totnes (in Devon, south-west England) we finally decided to buy a map which eventually got us to our destination: The Fingals hotel in Dittisham (a fine country resort). Aahh, how glad we were when we finally met up with the others:)

Unfortunatly Máni (3 months old) didn't sleep much the following night so it was a very tired miss Olafsdottir who "woke up" realising the pre-wedding party was in about three hours ... in another town nearby (Dartmouth). These three hours turned out to be extremely stressful since I had managed to "loose" (for a moment) our carkeys in my new but very enourmously big handbag. I was in bits thinking I had managed to mess this up for my whole party of ten seeing how we would be late because of me..

I was so glad to meet my nephew Fionn (the brother of the groom) who told me that the ferry does in fact go every five minutes (but not once a day or something as we thought..)

Anyhows, me done talking, here are some pictures!

This is the house where the pre wedding party was held. Quite adventurous! Cracy beautiful surroundings indeed.

The bride and groom; my nephew Steppé and his (now) wife Kerensa:)

A ceremony was held inside this magical house where Steppé and Kerensa said their vowes. Ahhh.. (I didn't actually hear them but ahhh all the same)

:)

We spent three wonderful days in Dittisham (Devon) in the lovely country hotel Fingals. We explored the surrounding areas such as Torquay (I think I'm spelling it right..) Then we headed up to London. On the way we saw these crazy stones:

(yes I know:) They're called Stonehenge..

In London we stayed at The Abbey Court hotel in Notting Hill. All ok. I managed to meet my friend Mæja who works (and lives) in London. So nice to see her. (Suddenly switching over to icelandic now, don't ask..) Man.. You go girl!!
